3. Play downloaded files or stream your membership inside the player; the picture is sent to the headset over the dedicated link.

Option 2: standalone

The Frame runs SteamOS natively. Check whether your preferred player offers a native Steam Frame build before you rely on standalone playback; support is arriving app by app. For files, the microSD slot (up to 2 TB) is handy for a local library.

What to skip on the Frame

• AR / passthrough scenes, unless you add a colour passthrough camera. Regular 180° and 360° VR scenes are the better fit.
• Low-resolution libraries. The Frame's screen shows the difference, so put your money into 6K and 8K content.
