Quest 2 vs Quest 3 for VR porn

If you watch VR porn regularly on a Quest 2, the Quest 3 is a clear upgrade: a sharper screen, pancake lenses that stay sharp to the edges, colour passthrough for AR scenes, and a faster chip that plays high-resolution files more smoothly. If you only watch now and then, the Quest 2 still does the job.

Side by side

What gets better

• Sharpness. More pixels and better lenses: text, faces and fine detail look noticeably clearer, and you no longer have to keep your eyes in the centre of the lens.
• 8K scenes. On a Quest 2, 8K rarely looks better than 6K and can stutter. On a Quest 3, 8K is where premium studios like VR Bangers pull ahead. More: 8K vs 4K.
• AR scenes. Colour passthrough finally makes AR scenes work: the performer appears in your own room. See AR Porn and the best AR sites.
• Games. Standalone and browser games run smoother on the newer chip: VR porn games on Quest 3.

What stays the same

Your memberships, players and downloaded files all carry over. The same browser, the same apps such as DeoVR, HereSphere and SKYBOX VR, and the same way of copying files over USB-C.

Quest 3 or the cheaper Quest 3S?

The 3S has the same chip and colour passthrough but the same-resolution screen and Fresnel lenses as the Quest 2. For sharper VR video, the upgrade that matters is the Quest 3. Details: Quest 3 vs Quest 3S.
