What it is
Virt-A-Mate, VaM for short, is less a game than a toolkit. You get realistic 3D characters with joint and soft-body physics, collisions and simulated hair and clothing, and you pose them, record motion with your VR controllers and play the result back. You do not have to build everything yourself: a large library of ready-made community scenes is available through its content hub.
The catch: your PC
VaM is one of the most demanding VR titles around because of how much physics it simulates. The developer recommends an Intel i7-7000 series CPU or better at 3.6 GHz or more, an Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti or better and 16 GB of RAM. It leans on single-thread CPU speed, and hair and cloth simulation runs better on Nvidia cards. It does not run on a Mac.
Getting it running on a Quest 3
- Download the Premium build on your PC and extract the .zip to a drive with plenty of space.
- Use the activation code that comes in the download.
- Connect the Quest with a Link cable and start the game from the PC.

Stay safe with plugins
Community plugins can do a lot, which also makes them a risk. Keep to the latest patch, keep plugin network access switched off unless you need it, never run VaM as administrator, and only load content from sources you trust.
Is it worth VRPorn.com Premium?
If you have the PC for it, yes: Premium also includes 47,000+ VR videos and other games, for $9.95 a month on the yearly plan. See the best VR porn games and the VRPorn.com price.

Questions
Does Virt-A-Mate work on Quest 3?
Not as a standalone app. It runs on a Windows PC and you connect the Quest with a Link cable; the developer names the Link cable route for Quest headsets.
Can I play Virt-A-Mate without a VR headset?
Yes. It has a desktop mode, which many people use to build scenes before playing them in VR.
Is Virt-A-Mate safe to use with plugins?
Plugins are off by default. If you turn them on, the developer recommends updating to the latest security patch, leaving plugin network access off, never running the game as administrator, and loading content only from sources you trust.
